what you never went fishing using Spikes (maggots) or wax worms for bait?
um, ew. no. Huh?

I don't do wriggly, jumpy, or buzzy. Yuck.

Everything seems to be looking up lately. Aside from Sota back to wanting to cause serious injury to me regularly, everyone else is doing well.

My new 'zon Stanley (haven't introduced him yet, have I?) is doing well. He's a ratty white fronted amazon, age/gender/history unknown, with an overgrown beak. He is currently unhandlable, but he has come out of his cage and flew to me a few times for a peanut. lol.

Faith's kittens are now 6 weeks old and available for adoption in the next 2-3 weeks.

Meet Puddles

Whiney

Toes

And Dubya

And, I'm also getting a foster rabbit today. Seems the brother of my husband's boss can't be bothered to take $14 of his millions to place an ad in the paper. So he asked my husband if I would take it and find it a home.  Roll Eyes  Of course I will.

What adorable kitties!
And the amazon isn't that bad looking either!
I take it he's an older guy? With the overgrown beak?
Definitely a looker.

waxworms are icky, but Stanley sure loves them!  He also loves mealworms.  Crickets are okay in a pinch.  I hate handling them all, ESPECIALLY the crickets.  I generally put them in teh fridge to slow them down a bit if I remember (and if I remember to take them out of the fridge!).

He's "older" but we're not sure how old. I'm hoping the vet can give me a rough guestimate when he sees him mid-June. His beak has improved greatly in condition but length will also be taken care of at the vet. We've come a long way, he is taking food out of my hand with little hesitation. It seems like such minor strides, but every baby step is a thumbs up with him, since I have a strong suspicion he is either a wild caught, or a long time breeder.

Waxworms are supposed to taste pretty good, if you're a lizard. lol. I don't really care to try them myself.  Grin

I finally have my own mealworms growing in my baby bin. I am so excited. I have two lots of beetles going and one of my baby bins is just LOADED with itty bitty mealworms. Once they get to a certain size, I'm going to refrigerate them and hopefully if I become overrun I can off some to fellow lizard lovers. Smiley

A lot has happened since I was last here, I adopted a dog from the local kill shelter for my birthday,

I adopted out all of Faith's kittens with the exception of Duhb, who is staying with us.

I bottlefed an orphaned litter of 6 kittens for a few days but was VERY relieved when we found a nursing mother for them.

I did take in the rabbit and found him a home just a few days ago. (he was so sweet!!!!)

And sadly, I took in a 2 day old orphaned kitten that only lived 4 days once I got her. I was crushed. She failed to thrive and was already pretty bad off when they brought her to me. She faded quickly on the 4th day and didn't make it through the night. My first bottle baby failure and it was a hard one to cope with.

I also found homes for a few black kittens that never stepped foot in my home. I like those kinds. Not a lot of real effort on my part. Grin

And on an exciting note, my mother's pair of eclectus have two eggs, one of which appears to be fertile, so I will be raising at least one day one baby very soon........Tentative hatch date is the 12th I believe....... Smiley
