when you've got the 's' word.....SUNSHINE!!!!!  Send some of that bright stuff this a way, would ya??!!! Cool  Flag football is indoors in this neck of the woods, but goin' strong.  I think I worry more about flag than regular cuz of lack of gear.  Is Tyler going to play regular field football??

don`t know yet. thought he`d get his feet wet with flag first. i don`t want to spend too much cash and then have him hate it...or not have any talent for it. baseball lasted a season, he didn`t really like that and i`m glad i found out before i spent tons of money ya know? we`ll see if he likes it or not.

would NEVER let my kid play football, but he tackled everything since he could walk.  He insisted he play....ironically, the one time he was hurt bad enough to be taken out by backboard in an ambulance was with flagfootball-no helmet with that.  Now my 8 yr. old son wants to play....I just don't know if I have it in me to watch 2 of them play and not be worried sick.
It's a heck of a committment, at least here.  5 d a week practices and a game on the 6th from Aug.-Nov.  It's a family committment, the families are tightly bonded, that's for sure.  My son is high energy so the practice schedule wears him down to reasonable, but it you have a mellow kid, it'd kill him.  Wink

that`s what i`ve heard...the whole commitment thing is alot bigger with tackle. not sure if i want to go there either. i can handle 2 practices plus 1 game per week but i don`t know about any more.  seems the kids have barely any down time as it is with school, singing, football, homework and drums. throw my stuff in there and it`s overload!! YIKES, don`t know how you do it

When it's fall, it's FOOTBALL.....we don't do anything else besides church.  i have to say, we've been doing this for 4 years now, and I've grown to look forward to fall and to football.  I'm probably the biggest lunatic mom out there, shaking my jugs (fill milk jugs up with pellets and decorate with the team emblom-shake it momma, shake it!!!  Tongue)  It still scares the life outta me, but I know he loves it heart and soul so I give it my all.  I wouldn't EVER have suggested it to him or encouraged him to try it, he drug me along into it......so, away I go.  That said, it IS a dangerous sport with long term repercussions to injuries.  He also is one of the tallest & best built kids on the team.  There is such a body growth difference in these boys-I don't know how the moms of the little guys do it-I'd be in heart failure.
Now is basketball season.  He plays basketball, but not with the vengence he plays football with.  Basketball season is my time to let my heart rest. Smiley

I am sure glad you clarified that "shaking my jugs" statement

hahaha   Grin  That was funny.

It's been about a month since this post started, but had to say.....
Patty/Carol - I admire you!  Secretly, I have an ambition one day when I decide to have kids of my own (my sisters are enough for now!) to have fun with that kind of thing! (who knew we'd want to be a soccer mom!!)  I've been dating a great man for the last 3 years, and that is always something I admired about his family, it's so family oriented at those games and you are so right! The families are tight and very supporting of their teams! It took me a few games to warm up to sitting out on some cold nights yelling, but honestly, its very fun! (and they arent even my kids or related to myself)  Now, we all go to watch his nephews play... his brother hasn't graduated high school quite yet so he plays as well...he's 16 (they are about 11 years apart!) ... and I've gotten to know a lot of the kids and the parents.  I'd love to participate more, but not being "alumni" (I graduated from a rival school about 8 or 9 years ago!) or a mother, I guess there isn't many ways to do so!   So enjoyyyy these days as much as you can, I miss the season already.  (That and my hometown heroes won the superbowl - which pumped us all up Smiley  )
