i`ve very disimpressed with whirlpool
the appliances are barely 4 years old and i can count on both hands how many times i`ve used the oven part of the stove....we barbecue everything! i baked a cake yesterday and roasted 2 chickens and at the end...thank god it was at the end of the cooking time for the chickens it died and hasn`t resurrected. I CAN`T AFFORD A NEW STOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are it's symptoms?
the oven light works and the switch to turn it(the light) on is the same area as the controls. the controls at the back of the stove that you set to the temp you want and the timer and the clock. those are dead so there`s no display at all so i can`t turn it on to see if it heats. did that make sense?

Yes it makes sense. Sounds like the control board died.
I would think that replacing that part would solve the problem for much less than the price of a new stove.
I'm cetainly no expert on stoves and son't know the make of yours.
you could try asking about it in this forum which is a good source for all appliance questions

Wow, that's too bad...
It's the oven part that is broken I take it?
I always think of them as separate pieces, as I am in food service and we buy them separately, plus mine at home are separate.
The stove is the part with the burners on top.
I had always heard Whirlpool was the brand to buy, at least when I was going to buy a new washer and dryer!
I didn't realize they made kitchen appliances though. But I haven't looked at new ones for the house yet.
Hopefully you can just get a new part and it will be fixed right up!

it`d cost more to ship it than to buy a new stove LOL.

I think whirlpool and Jenni-air are owned by the same people now...and I THINK it's Maytag! LOL!
I remember way back when I was a plumber, I used to go to the factory to get disposals, and the same place made them for 6 different
"Manufacturers" and some of them were insinkerator, wirlpool, sears, jcpenneys, maytag, and Montgomery wards.
Different color paint on them, and different stickers, but over all the same actual manufacturers.
Was the same for Stove Hood...those vent/light things.
If it's only 5 year old, I'm sure they still have parts for those.

If you were Italian it is practically a rule that you have to have 2 stoves. Actually 2 kitchens!

Oh I know of all the different ways to get rid of it, but I'd really like to see it go to someone that I hear of that really needs a stove, not just someone looking for a good deal.
