almost laughable round here....

For those of you who don't know, my aunt was diagnosed with lung cancer in Aug. The docs gave her 3-6 mtns and no treatment options available. She was 82 with tons of spunk and my favorite. We did all we could for her and thank God she diied in her own home with all the family around and just a nice peaceful breath and she was gone. Today is her viewing all of her kids and grandkids except one have a really bad stomach flu, My back has gone out big time......can you believe it. The daughter went on with the viewing and I'm not sure what they will do for the funeral tomorrow....how awful is that??? But, to add laughter, as she always did, her son announced her wishes for burial which she had shared with none of us. After her viewing she is to be cremated then put in one of those 70's ceramic cookie jars-you know, the strawberry one??? LOL When her hubby dies they will mix their ashses and put them in the ground at their cabin IN THE COOKIE JAR....what a hoot!!

my grandma, and my 2 aunts all had ceramic shops for the better part of 50 yrs. We ALL had those cookie jars and the frog things you kept at the sink to keep your scrubber pad in......it was just hysterical to hear she was to be put in one of those strawberry cookie jars. Funny, ceramics were always abundant around home and the LAST thing any of us wanted for a gift was something ceramic.....now that the generation who made them has passed on we're all treasuring those items.

You know as sad as that story is, I sure hope she did not suffer long.
What an amazing idea to be buried. Its crazy what coffins and cemetary
plots cost now days. I love the idea of being buried is a place I love that meant
something to me when I was alive. Who says it has to be in a cemetary with
a stone and all the same suit like everyone else.
I love that and it gets me thinking about myself?
I wonder if there are crazy laws out there that forbid you to just bury
loved one's is certain places. I mean I know you can't just take the whole body
and dig up your old garden you haven't used in years and throw it in there.

got me thinking too.....it was soooo like her and what a great way to remember her. I know my cousins live on a family plot in Tennessee and they have a family graveyard on their property. The laws for burial changed after their daddy died. It now has to be a State Approved cemetary and not on private property so the rest of them cannot be buried there unless they are cremated-sorta sad. When we went through Virginia last summer, there were actually headstones in people FRONT yards built into sides of hills.....that's a little too much for me.
