Just wondering if any of you have ever considered using your cell phone as a modem?  I called tmobile yesterday wanting to purchase a wireless card for my laptop since I am having issues with the internet with the company I am with. The girl recommended that I hook up my cell phone via a USB cord (while having a data package) to my laptop and use it as a modem.  Just wondering if this is a viable/reliable option. It seemed to work well for her. Just fishing around for ideas.

I think you have to have that as an option on your phone service, which most phones that can access the internet by themselves have the option...also, beware...it's Not cheap by anymeans.
Our daughter thought because it was Available that she could use it as part of her package, what she didn't hear was the bandwidth charge...they charge by megabyte, and that ads up quick...don't remember how much her bill was..but she stopped that quick.

Luckily, I made sure of that and T-mobile actually lets you add it as a data package with unlimited use for a flat rate. However... I HIGHLY advise against it, YUCK! It is slow as all get out, and the most unreliable connection I have experienced in awhile. It will randomly stop working. I am bidding on a laptop card on Ebay as we speak and I should win one here in the next few days. (Save a little bit of $$) Then I will be calling them up and just getting the darned wireless, I don't know what the girl was talking about.. she must have only been doing very very light browsing, like a Google search or two, it's so easy to overload this connection and the whole thing disconnects.  For the life of me, I can't find good internet. Hopefully I don't spend an arm and a leg on this wireless air card thing just to find that it doesn't work for some reason or other. Wish me luck! Roll Eyes Huh?
