Ok I am wondering if this is normal.... Pooh is ten months old and he still squats like a girl, and oftentimes wees on his front legs because of it.  So I just forget it thinking maybe he is just still a puppy so he hasnt caught on.  Upon texting Carol, I find that both Tucker and Oscar are lifting their leg like "normal" boys!  This one has me stumped.  All I can possibly think to chalk it up to is that he is around two girls.  But oscar isnt around any other dogs, so that makes me wonder why he began lifting his leg. Its kind of odd maybe... but the worst part is obviously the weeing on the legs... he doesnt splash himself everytime, if he is at a certain angle it won't hit... but often he does and I have to attempt to wipe him off.    I dont have an infant and I am not excited about having to buy baby wipes LOL  Tongue

 ... is this normal?

Skatey squatted for a long time, but I can't remember how long.
Then he would lift his leg now and then, before he finally went to lifting his leg all the time.
I do remember it took him forever though.
I'd just be patient.
I've had all boys and some of them take a while to figure it out!

I hate to break this to you....

Jurny is 10.5 years old, still squats, unless there's something to pee on.  Argus does the half squat half lift (he's 5) and pees all over his front legs.  Lovely when you have a coated dog....Turner has hiked his leg since he was about 3 months old.

Your boy may never lift his leg completely.

get him around some boy dogs for playdates.  It's true Oscar is an only dog but he has always been at our house on almost a weekly basis since we've had the pups.  He is with Sonny & Levi and Tuck so I'm thinking he naturally picked it up from all of them.

Argus and Jurny were both around Gambol "ultimate leg lifter of all dogs" and it didn't make a lick of difference.  Turner is around both of them, and has hiked it from day one pretty much.  Depends on the dog I think more than anything.

I really don't mind it other than the weeing on himself.  How do you deal with that part, saucy? Just be ready to wipe him off? I read around a bit and the only thing else I found was to keep the tiny bit of hair near their "weiner" snipped just a little, because that directs the flow of the urine, and if its too long, it will shoot the urine further away and onto the legs, but you dont want to cut it too much, because it will be all over the place.  Wow... the odd challenges of owning a boy LMBO... i guess there had to be some price to pay for all the perks.  lol

I leave him outside long enough for it to dry somewhat, at least dry enough it's not dripping.  When he's been groomed for teh show ring he doesn't get to pee from teh grooming table to teh ring, and I carry a towel just in case.

With all the boys in this house, and everyone trying to pee over everyone else's pee and as a result they end up peeing on each other...I don't worry about a little pee on the back of his front legs.
