I have the book but I am afraid to read it right now because I know it has a sad ending and I know I'll get upset since I lost both my dogs this last year... I didn't go see the movie for that same reason.

Read the book and saw the movie.  And laughed and cried at both.  When we went to the movie, even my husband was tearing up at the end.  As he said been there too many times for it not to get to you.  I told him that it made me think about our oldest golden.  Now 10.  When she was younger she was a handful.  Not a Marley.  But a handful in her own right.  She was able to scale our 5 foot fencing without a second thought and would just take off on us, leaving us roaming the streets looking for her at 1 and 2 in the morning.  Now that she's older she's calmed down and while not mellow and easy she's no where near the handful she was as a youngster.

She's never been aggressive in anyway.  Simply just wanted to do things her way.  Smiley

The part in the book when they are at the airport trying to get Marley in the crate with 3 small children had me rolling.  I was laughing soooo hard...I called hubby at work to read the clip to him; knowing he would get a good chuckle.  The only problem was that I was laughing so hard reading it that he couldn't understand a word I said.  Definitely a 'must' read  Smiley

I watched the movie and had to look away a few times to lose focus so I wouldn't embarass myself in the theatre! The part that got me was when the boys were riding on the bus and the one said he'll be there (waiting) and the other said how does he know? And he said good dogs just know. That about send me into a blubbering frenzy. I remember my dog growing up was a golden mix and she always was waiting at the bus stop every single day for my brother and I. My ma said she sat on our steps and watched every single day ten or fifteen mins before the bus came like clockwork she waited. She was so special to me that I can't express in words really. A one of a kind. So yeah, that part got me.
