Earthdog

Has anyone participated in Earthdog?  I have been looking for an activity that we can get involved in.  I understand that your dog has to be AKC registered in order to participate?  If you never upkept the papers, then what would you do in order to do this?  I never sent in anything after I got her as a puppy (Zoey) and there is a few earthdog tests going on around us.  I was thinking of taking her to one, but if I can't because I never sent in her papers then I guess we can't...

I didn't really see the reason to keep up with them yearly, we weren't involved in anything that required them.
