So by now, a lot of you know that we adopted our 4th four legged child. Her name is Cherish; she is a 1 1/2 year old chi/rat terrier mix.  Training for therapy dog work (surprise, surprise  Roll Eyes) Tucker is there, just a bit more practice.  I need help with how to teach Cherish to 'stay'  She sits, does her down but holding a sit while I walk back...she comes toward me every time. She is soooo soft and sweet and wonderfully great at training, but this one has me stumped. She has been with us since 4th of July weekend so I'm sure she knows she's not going to be left.....any ideas crew??

There's some good youtube videos out there on teaching stay. Try searching on youtube.com.  Mine only listen to stay when I am within their visual range. When I leave the room or their sight they believe rules no longer apply.

Thanks everyone-Brie, great to "see" you!!!!  I'm working on it; Louisa, I will check the you tube today and see what I can find.  I've never had such a difficult time. It's hard not to feel for her, she just wants to be at my feet or in my arms; she doesn't "get" why I want her to sit why I walk 'away'.
