Yesterday some friends and I went to Chicago's Chinese New Year parade in Chinatown. Since it's the year of the dog (and since she loves parades and festivals) I decided to bring Ginger along. She loved it! It was very crowded right around where the parade was and we got there late so we missed most of the parade-- the part that was still going on we couldn't really see through the crowd-- but we all still had fun. Ginger is very used to large crowds and didn't mind it at all, she seemed to be enjoying the smells and sights of all the people around us.
A lot of people commented on it being 'her year' when they saw Ginger. About half the people we passed said "Look, a doggie!" or some other comment on how it was a great idea to bring her for the year of the dog.

We met a very nice JRT and Ginger got to say hello

After the parade, we saw this pretty painting of a dog outside of one of the businesses, so I had to get a photo.

In "Chinatown Square" there are statues of all the zodiac animals. Here is the dog. When I posed Ginger for this photo, several people exclaimed on what a nice shot/idea it was. At least one other person passing by snapped a pic of her!

The plaque tells the qualities of dogs (people born in the year of the dog.) The first line is: "Dogs are loyal, honest, and extremely faithful to those they love." Very fitting!
Later that night, we ordered chinese food. Since it is "their year," the dogs got a little bit too!
