Funny how that works huh Carol! LOL
My daughter is doing fine right now. Of course we wouldn't be so broke if she still had her job at the restaurant, but it closed, so it wasn't her fault she isn't working there anymore... and it leaves more time for her to help Sav out at the shop, which is what he wanted. Of course it leaves me home alone on Saturdays when I used to get my day with her to shop or go to lunch or whatever... but yes, as you say, those days were numbered too. More and more she wanted to spend time with the boyfriend and such.
Now the big deal is prom which is coming up fast and furious and digging a big hole in our pocketbook. Good grief, and we thought we were doing good buying the dress early! Little did we know that was just the tip of the iceberg! LOL
Now she has her own car, so she's much more independant, and wants to spend more time with friends and such, especially the boyfriend... but luckily he's a good kid, so we don't mind him all that much. It could be much worse!
I get a kick out of Sav now though... for years he would always say.. "as soon as she's 18, she's outta here" Well, now she's getting closer and closer...... and I talk about buying things to replace my own things and give her something of mine (sewing machine as an example... hey, if I can get an upgrade out of the deal... why not!) and he says "HEY, she's not moving out! What are you talking about! She's here to stay!" So he's definately changed his tune! LOL

Ugghhh, if you ask me, they're halfway between a child and an adult and I can't keep track on any given day which one they are to be.  I have a great gal, don't get me wrong, but this just isn't the age I excel at....I'm the baby gal.....this is nutso....if I'm suppose to let go, then I'll let go...if I'm suppose to be in control, then I'm in control, but halfway between each is killin' me!!
Hmmmm....prom, just heard about that 2 days ago.  I offered to do dinner her and save the teens some $$$$  They took me up on it....any suggestions for food items???   She's perfectly content to borrow her dress from a friend who offered so now it's just shoes and jewelry....she's not a bling kinda gal-more Tomboy, so this part is a cinch if I can get her to go shopping with me......boyfriend is a good kid, capt. of the football team which is a MUST cuz she is a TOTAL football nut.  Most of the time they watch movies here with a few friends, so that part is no biggie....but WHO IS SHE?Huh?  sometimes she"s happy and chatty others she"s quiet and i"m pullin" teeth>   She has played softball her entire life and always been an ace catcher.....she made the varsity softball team which is quite an ordeal cuz 50-60 girls try out and 13 make it.  Sooooo....she makes it and then she misses every ball they throw her....I mean TOTALLY misses every ball they throw her.  She now sits the bench....what in the world got into her head...."oops it just slipped through my glove"....what?Huh??  NOTHING could get passed her last year....I just don't get this age. Huh? Cool Wink

Yeah, the girls just seem to change and their interests change as they get older.
My daughter always played softball too... that was her game. Well guess who decided not to play at all this year?! You guessed it! She didn't go out for softball at all! It was a shocker to us all! She says she will next year but who knows...
She hasn't been so bad with being moody now, it was pretty bad before, but not so much now I don't think... she can flip flop between them pretty good, but it doesn't seem to be as often anymore... but she's nearly 18 now too so maybe the hormones are leveling out a little? Who knows.
With her prom it seems like its $$$$$$ We had the dress, the shoes, jewlery, hair, tanning, tiara, special undergarments for under the dress, etc etc etc... its a neverending money thing!!
And of course senior pics this summer. Have you checked prices on those! Holy cow!! If you haven't yet, you best start looking... they vary a LOT depending on the place... and some places are rediculously high! YIKES!!! Of course the one with the neat display at the mall costs a fortune, so we have to look elsewhere, as there is no way I'm going to pay that much... if we got the book of sample pics to go with it (which she wants of course... still not sure if thats going to be an option, depending on where we go...at the looks of the prices) it would be $700 or more! Thats rediculous!

oh I know, around here the pics. are pricing around $1000....let's be real....are you really going to want more than one senior pic. hanging on your wall and how many realative really need a pic...graduation announcements will need them ofcourse....I'm with you $$$$  after $$$$ with the pic. thang and our softball team has 'mandatory' training in Fla. the week of Spring Break...c'mon, who are we-The Detroit Tigers....(well, maybe with the way they've been scoring  Tongue Roll Eyes)  That was $1000 venture....yowza, and I have 2 more coming up the ladder, better get another job. Huh?

It's not changing of the tune, it's realizing the future, and accepting it. If I'm wrong, No Problem, but it's better to think of it this way..and it not happening this way, rather then the opposite!
LOL!
