sheesh, I don't wanna do this, but guess I'm gonna have to.  I've had 4-5 gallbladder attacks in the past few weeks.  I knew exactly what they were but figured ignoring them would make them go away....should work right??? NOT!!!  I finally had to cave and go in to have it checked out.  Ultrasound shows some whoppers of stones.....gallbladder has to come out...Now geez oh man, I don't have time to be foolin' around with this!!! Ack....so tell me, tell me....who's had theirs out and give me a play by play of how long.  I'm hoping for the laproscopy version-see the surgeon next Thurs.  We have Rascal Flat tickets for June 9th 9 primo box tickets with the shrimp, steak and whole 9 yds. so I wanna be there and vacation starts June 16th (already put deposits down) sooooo.....if I have this done, like June 1st, am I going to be raring and ready to go by June 9th?Huh??

Oh Geez Carol, you are a nurse right?!  Tongue
(I have this odd feeling you know the answer, but you don't like the answer, and you want us to tell you otherwise... Hmmmmmmm.... would Carol do something like that?! Nah... not our Carol!)
Ok, I want to say we had a nurse here that just had that surgery and I can ask her about it. I heard her talking about it the other day.
I won't say anything at all until I confirm THAT is the type of surgery she had though...

Yeah yeah... I know how it is.... I should talk!!
*whispering so Sav won't hear me*
This is coming from the EMT who has a bad back and it went out recently... so I stayed in bed for the weekend.... then took 2 days off call... then went back on call for the next two days (luckily didn't have any calls, but wasn't feeling toooo bad, but was happy to be able to take muscle relaxants and painkillers the next day when I was not on call again) only to have to finally go in and have to go off call for most of the rest of this month. Now they have me going in to stinking PT, which does not make me happy AT ALL I tell ya!
But Sav was having a cow when he found out I was covering my call time those two days, and I could hardly walk around... We do have an electric cot, but... can't always guarantee the thing works correctly, so I figured its best to stay away from it.

ohhhh you are sooooo bad!!!  Better watch it...this comes from the nurse with the bad back.  DO NOT lift ANYTHING until it has settled down and you know all is well.  It's a bite if you push those ligaments past their stretching point. Wink  Lecture 101...do the stretches PT gives you religiously, even after your back is feeling normal.  Did I mention that you are soooooo baaaadddd???!!!! Roll Eyes Grin

Yeah Yeah, I know....
It was right at the beginning of the month, so I didn't write my on call hours on the calendar... so it wouldn't drive me nuts to see when I was on call. Luckily, the pager hasn't gone off when I was home, so I haven't heard what I've missed! LOL
And my fun will be next week... my daughters A&P class has a live cadaver disection and I jumped at the chance to be a chaparone (along with a fellow emt, they think we are both sick little monkeys! LOL). So that will be something neat to see!

She said you SHOULD be ok, if all goes well....
Two things can happen surgically... when they go in laproscopically, they make 4 slits, and if all goes well you will be up moving around well within 3-4 days just fine. She was back to work in 10 days. Her surgeon had a follow up a week later and she was doing great.
The other thing that can happen is if things are worse inside once they get in there, then they may have to do it the old fashioned way (a larger incision) and then there is a 6 week healing time. In her case they almost had to do that, but they luckily were able to get it out the way they originally planned.
So there you have it. Hopefully all goes well, but you never know! Let us know how it goes with the surgeon next week!

Best of luck, Carol!  When I had knee surgery (nothing related, I know)  I was supposed to be down for a least a month... a week and a half and I was hobbling around, couldnt stand being in bed.  So I really think that may even depend on you a lot too.  When I had another minor surgery, they said at least count on being out for the week.   I was traveling that night (against drs orders for the anethesia....wasnt supposed to be driving)  But I felt fine.    So I guess it really depends on your own ability to bounce back.   I truly hope all goes well, but hey... it probably will and you'll be enjoying your summer pain-free and glad you got it out of the way. Alright, I'm going for the easy version....be back and at it in 3 d....That I can do.  I mean, it's an extra part anyway, so not like I need it but I can't stand being down...been there, done that ENOUGH!!!   So here goes Beau.....if in 3d I'm not up and at it, you're going to have to make a trip over here and give me some of them home cooked vittles of yours, Joe's going to have to bring me one of those yummy sandwhiches he keeps torchering me with and then I'll be just fine, Yep, that's a plan!!! Grin
Thanks for gathering the info.  I'll let ya know what the surgeon says next week but until then Levi is an awesome heating pad on my sore tummy-ya gottat getchya one of these thangs.  Grin

Ok Carol, I'm going to give you my top secret way to spell check on the computer.
You do have word right? That has spell check.
Any time I am having a problem spelling a word, I drop it into Word, hit return, and wait for that dang red line to appear under it! LOL If it does, I spelled it wrong! Then I can right click and correct it. Copy and paste it into whatever it was I was trying to type it into in the first place.
Ok ok, it may be a little work... but if you typed it out three times already and fretted over it that much... you might as well go to the work to make sure Joe doesn't bug ya about it!

No need to fire up your word processor to do spellchecking.

Go to WWW.SPELLCHECK.NET   It's quicker than using the word processors
