(wondering if this is the right "place" - wanted to give my Golden pals an update on my sister...

she's in the hospital - they did a procedure on her lungs last night that - from my understanding - "seals" off the lung outer coating so future collapses won't happen - it's her 3rd collapse - the procedure was so painful for her - my mother and I turned her every 15 minutes after she had the procedure so the stuff they gave her could "coat" the lungs and in spite of a pain med called I think it's Dilatid (she is allergic to morphine) I've never, ever seen her - or anyone - in that kind of pain - she was screaming as they did it and she yelled out "Dear God, help me" and my sister is not a religious person and that deeply affected me when I heard her. It was really disturbing to me to see her suffer so. The chest x-ray revealed one of the small tumors on the lower part of her lung is now very big - growing towards a part that has to do with the heart. grew in 4 weeks time - I do not know if she will continue with anymore experimental treatment at UCLA - it makes you wonder if the treatment "caused" this collapse. I just hope they can remove the chest tube today and discharge her to go home soon. She told me "I don't want alot more time, just a little more time, just a little." We're planning a surprise birthday party for my mom's 80th birthday on April 8th and I told her "I expect you there Lucia, focus on that and on other events coming up and maybe that will make your cancer not flare up." She told me "I will sure try Valerie but I want you to understand, we all have our destiny, for whatever reasons, and this is mine - this is just the way it is - it is my destiny."

I'm so sorry to hear that your sister is suffering so much pain. I wish there were something we could do for you guys. Know that we are thinking of you always, and if there is anything we can do, just let us know.

I'm praying for your sis. and your family and you know I will continue.  I am soooo sorry.  Your sister is very blessed to have you to care for her and watch over her-you are doing the best thing you possibly can, you're there for her.
Val, I know your sis. is not terribly religious, but I have a set of tapes that are pretty good, and not "preachy" by Joyce Meyer.  If you think it wouldn't offend her, I'll gladly send them for her??  Just let me know, and I'm not offended if she says no, but very willing to get them to her if she says yes.

Oh Valerie, I'm so very sorry to hear this.  It's difficult for your sister, but I'm sure just as difficult for you and the rest of the family to see this.  I just hate this disease.  I'm very glad that you can be there for her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

dear val. i am so sorry to hear of your sisters pain and you having to watch her go through this pain. all i can offer are cyberhugs and prayers and hope. she may not be a "religious" person but i`m sure she believes in a higher power and has some spiritualness to her. otherwise she would not say things like "this is my destiny". hopefully she will dig her soul in deep and grab hold of that higher power for strength and comfort. i`m so sorry val.
