everything in a fire including all their dogs but 1.
"Dear Friends; In our community of Golden Lovers, we rally to help those in need. I ask that you pray for these two who have given so much of their lives to saving goldens. They are in Johns Hopkins Bayveiw Medical Center, Burn Unit 4940 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore MD 21224. Gerald Pental is in Room 9A, and Jacquelyn is in Room 8A. They can not receive cards, just balloons and silk flowers, but more importatly, need our prayers and help for a life after. When I was Intake/Foster Home Co-ordinator for GRREAT, I personally knew Jackie and was involved with her as a foster home and liason to several shelters and Humane societies in her area. She was very passionate about rescuing goldens and many times went above and beyond what a "normal" person would when a golden was in need. Georgie Bahler ******************* Forwarded message: Jackie and Jerry Pental lost their house in Denton, MD on Sunday to fire. It totally destroyed their house, taking with it all of their possessions. But the worst part is it also took their hearts. In that terrible fire they lost all but one of their beloved 12 (?) dogs.
As most of you know this wonderful couple not only bred goldens, but were perhaps the most active people I know, in their involvement with breed rescue. Now they are the ones who need help. Both are still in the John Hopkins Burn center, in critical but stable condition. Both are on ventilators and can receive no visitors or calls. The saddest thing is when they recover enough to be able to return home, there is no home left. There will be few warm kisses and few wags.
We can not replace the loss of their golden children but we can help make it easier for them to start over. THEY HAVE NOTHING LEFT, all was lost in the fire. An account has been set up at the Providence bank for the Pentals. All donations big or small can be set to: The Pental Fund, P.O.Box 33 Denton, MD, 21629. Also, any gift cards for food, clothing, home supplies, etc. are very welcome.
If you did not know Jackie and Jerry personally, they are in their sixties, lived very modestly, and every extra dollar they had, went to guarantee that their dogs wanted for nothing. Please keep Jackie and Jerry in your prayers. I will send an update as their conditions change, or their needs become clearer. As fellow dog lovers, please do what you can. As one we are small, together we are mighty." end of quote
