So I now have several minutes of the boys herding that I took as video on my digital camera.  Anyone know of any programs that are decent at editing (just simple stuff like picking a few seconds of the video, or getting a still shot) that are preferably a free download, and are there any good places to download them to, like photobucket for pictures?  I would love to show you guys a clip of Argus working 30 ducks today, but sadly I don't konw how.   Undecided

My daughter spent this weekend playing with video she made using her digital camera, and she used http://youtube.com/
That allowed her to post small video files to her myspace to show others. I'm not sure how much editing you can do with it, but you can give it a try!

I also think that if your running windows XP, there is a portion of Windows media player called windows movie maker that will let you edit your digital movies.

I have Studio 8 That comes with the full version of Pinnacle.

I'm not sure about a simple program available for download I'll take a look around, I have file trimmers etc but don't know if they will render to Mpg or Avi I think you will need a rendering DivX engine or similar.

I'll see what I can find out for you.

Aha!  I found that, now any clue how I convert it to .mov to .avi, .mpg or other accepted version.  I am so bad with this technical stuff.  The camera I can figure out, I point and push a button.

Ok, let's try this again... Here is a link to the video thing my daughter made on youtube. It worked pretty slick for myspace. It's a puggy riverdance thing she did with Mr. Kai the other morning. The embed thing didn't work here, but this link should work...

I tried that...my videos are all far to big to upload, and I don't know how to make them smaller....

there should be something about quality when you save it...most all programs save in quality depending on what speed your average viewer is going to use..for instance..
it might say 56k or 256K or maybe it'll say dialup, or dsl, or cable or T1..it's different for each program how they want you to save these, some might actually have the size of the view, like 2x2 or 3x5, some might ask what viewer, quicktime, or windows media...you just have to play with it and figure out what works best for you.

nope, it never gives me that option, it is just straight from the camera and it deposits it on my computer.  How can I be so computer literate at some thing and such an idiot at others.  I am going to poke around ont eh computer when I get more time and see if the Nikon View program came with some sort of movie program as well.

A manual, why would I read the manual?  LOL!  Yah, I may have to resort to that...
